Terms of use
The deal, in plain words.
These terms cover the Stills iPhone app and this website. They are the same terms you can read inside the app, under Settings.

Agreement
By using Stills you agree to these terms. Stills is provided by Neurovia. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the app.
Your licence to use Stills
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Stills on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the App Store terms.
Your content is yours
You keep all rights to the photos and content you capture, import or create in Stills. Because your photographs stay on your device, you are responsible for them — including keeping your own backups (Settings, then Account and data, or a device backup), since deleting frames, tossing them on the develop sheet, resetting your profile, or deleting the app removes them permanently. We hold no copy of your photos to recover from.
The profile picture and cover frames you choose are uploaded so your friends can see them. You grant us permission to store and show those to the friends you added, and to nobody else, for as long as you keep the account.
Sharing with people
The Tap sends your frames directly to another person's phone. Once something arrives on their device it is theirs to keep, like a handed-over print — deleting your copy does not delete theirs. The same is true of your profile: a friend's phone keeps the copy it last fetched. Only share what you are comfortable letting go of, and only capture and share content you have the right to.
Your account
An account is created with Sign in with Apple during setup and is required to use Stills. It is what lets friends see your profile and what your backups are encrypted to. You are responsible for keeping access to the Apple ID it is tied to — we cannot move an account to a different Apple ID, and a backup file encrypted to an account can only be opened by signing in as that account.
You may delete your account at any time in Settings, under Account and data. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, images, friendships and backup key from our servers. It does not delete the photographs on your phone.
Acceptable use
Use Stills lawfully. Do not use it to capture or store content you have no right to, to harass or harm others, or to violate anyone's privacy, including photographing people where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, tamper with or misuse the app except where the law expressly permits it.
On-device intelligence
Search results, scene labels, captions, trips, recaps and any natural-language replies are generated automatically by models running on your device. They can be imperfect, incomplete or occasionally wrong — a caption may misread a scene, a search may miss a frame. Treat their output as a helpful draft, not a statement of fact.
The film look
Stills develops every frame with its own opinionated, destructive-on-export film process. Tone, grain, halation and the optional date stamp are part of the product. The in-app original is retained, but exported files carry the look you chose at export.
Permissions and your device
Some features need access to your camera, photo library, location, microphone or nearby devices. You choose whether to grant these, and the related features simply will not work without them. You are responsible for the security of the device where your Stills data lives — the app's protection is your phone's protection.
Updates and changes
We may update Stills to improve it, fix issues, or adapt to new versions of iOS. We may add, change or remove features over time, and we may update these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the change. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
Beta software
Builds distributed through TestFlight are pre-release. They may be unstable, features may be incomplete or locked, and data created in a beta build may be lost between versions. Take a backup before you install one, and treat a beta as something to test rather than something to depend on.
Disclaimer of warranties
Stills is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will preserve your content. Keep your own backups.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Neurovia is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of content or data, arising from your use of Stills — including content lost to a deleted app, a reset profile, a failed device, or a frame tossed in the darkroom.
Termination
You may stop using Stills at any time by deleting the app, and close your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end the licence, and the account, if you breach these terms. Your photographs are unaffected either way — they are on your phone, not ours.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any disputes belong to the courts located there, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
